The Catching Falling Items Block can be used to add a mini-game where players use arrows to move left or right in order to catch falling items.
Choose and Name the Catching Falling Items Block
After you have created your game and picked your theme or decided to edit your game, you can choose to create a block for your game. You can create and add a catching falling items block.
Choose to create a block and use the drop down menu to select “Catching Falling Items Block” from the list of blocks. Once selected, give your catching falling items block a name.
Choose the Background Image for the Catching Falling Items Block and Instructions
For your catching falling items block, choose the background image for your block using the asset manager to upload and select a background image or select a background already uploaded to your library.
Then enter the instructions for your Catching Falling Items block.
Choose the Catcher Item Image
Use the asset manager to upload and select or select an already uploaded image to use as the catcher item for your block. Then set the width of the catcher item in pixels. You can choose to set it as the suggested example, 80 pixels.
Choose the Falling Objects: Name, Image, Size, and Number to Catch
Then it’s time to add your falling objects. You’ll be asked for the name of the falling object.
Then choose the image for that falling object using the asset manager. Set the size of the falling object by entering the width in pixels. You can choose to set it as the suggested example, 40 pixels.
Enter the number of that falling object that the player has to catch.
Then choose to add more falling objects. If you add more objects, repeat the steps above for adding the name, image, size, and the number to catch for each falling object that you add.
Then enter the message that players receive when they win the game.
Finally, add the name of the next block that the Catching Falling Items block should direct to and that’s it. You’ve completed your Catching Falling Items block.
Choose to create or edit a block, create or edit another game, or log out of the game builder.
